Federal Tax Credits for Energy Efficiency
The 2009 federal stimulus plan has provided for tax credits for homeowners who upgrade to ENERGY STAR rated products from January 2009 - December 2010. The credits are available for 30% of the cost of the product (does not include installation) up to a household maximum of $1,500 for all products over the two year period. Concord Lumber Corporation is pleased to supply several products that qualify for the $1,500 federal tax credit. (For a detailed list of qualifying products, please visit the ENERGY STAR website).
And, as tax season nears, we want to provide you with some information on how to qualify for the credit:
- First, the credit is something you will enter on your federal tax returns. You will not need to submit any additional paperwork with your returns, however you should keep the paperwork with your returns in the event you are audited.
- You will need two documents for proof of purchase of a qualifying product: (1) your receipt or invoice from CLC itemizing the product and (2) either (a) the original label from the product or (b) the manufacturer's certification statement. In most cases, the manufacturer's certification statement can be found on-line.
