Eric Smith joined our team at The Kitchen Works this past July, to assist us with customer service. With the addition of Eric we have been able to improve the services we offer and our response times. Eric is spending most of his time coordinating service calls and delivering product and plans to job sites. His assistance has not only been helpful in meeting our customer’s expectations, but has the additional benefit of helping our sales staff by freeing up more time for them to work with their existing and new customers. Reminder: The AWPA has passed changes to the standards of pressure treated lumber

The American Wood Protection Association has passed changes to the standards requiring pressure treated wood used in many physically above-ground applications be treated to Ground Contact requirements. The International Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) will include these changes in its evaluation report. The International Residential Code (IRC) requires treated wood to comply with AWPA standards. The new standards require the user (builder, consumer, or inspector) to select Ground Contact Treatment for physically above-ground material when: • soil or other debris may build up and stay in contact with the wood • there is insufficient ventilation to allow air circulation around th

Engineering and Estimating Department

Matt Rimkus has accepted the new position of Engineered Wood Component Designer/Estimator, heading up our newly formed department. Matt's role will include him working alongside our outside sales staff, creating material take-offs and framing material specs. Matt will be using software provided by Boise-Cascade to provide stamped engineered beam calculations for all the conventional and engineered lumber we carry. Additionally, this software will allow for him to transform plans into a layout of engineered flooring system made of I-Joists.
