Industry Forecast - Lumber Pricing & Market Predictions

LUMBER: Another week of defense by eastern mills as 2x4 and 2x6 saw another modest increase. I look for this market to stay firm going forward for the next few weeks. PANEL: The panel market stayed firm but with no real movement up or down. Paul Tarca Head of Purchasing Concord Lumber Corporation ptarca@concordlumbercorp.com

American Ladder Institute - Choosing the Right Ladder

“The environment of your work site is the first factor in choosing the material from which your ladder is constructed. For example, if you are working near sources of electricity, a metal ladder should be rejected since aluminum is an electrical conductor. Your body can complete an electrical circuit between the electrical power source, the ladder, and then to the ground in the event of a live wire contact incident. An electrical shock while working from a ladder can trigger a fall or cause your heart to stop leading to serious injury or death. On the other hand, if there are no electrical power sources in your work area, the aluminum ladder is the lightest weight when compared to fiberglass

Industry Forecast - Lumber Pricing & Market Predictions

LUMBER: The Eastern mills that produce 2x4 and 2x6 took advantage of a market looking to go up and they did. On the western side, things stayed firm and 2x12 is still in tight supply. I look for this market to stay firm going forward. PANEL: The panel market stayed firm but with no real movement up or down. Industry Forecast - Lumber Pricing & Market Predictions

LUMBER: With more curtailments at the mill level, supply is definitely being cut back. Mills have become very defensive and lumber printed up a bit more this week. PANEL: With one of the first announcements of plywood being cut back on the production side, look for prices to firm up in this market as well. Benjamin Moore offers products such as Arborcoat Translucent, which is a Tung Oil based wood preservative that is designed to penetrate into nearly any type of wood decking or siding. Benjamin Moore’s line of Fresh Start primers have several oil based options for both interior and exterior use. These will create a smooth, stain blocking base coat allowing for a professional grade finish. All of our ColorWorks locations offer these products and they have the knowledge to make the proper

Industry Forecast - Lumber Pricing & Market Predictions

LUMBER: Mills seemed somewhat defensive this week in hopes of not giving back the moderate increases they gained over the last few weeks. Prices were firm and up a bit again this week as demand was somewhat steady. PANEL: Panel prices stayed flat but unlike last week when I was looking for more erosion of pricing, I think plywood producers will be following the market. Industry Forecast - Lumber Pricing & Market Predictions

LUMBER: How do you create a lumber market when demand is not there? After taking almost 400 million board feet off the market throughout this year, Canfor announced another 75 million board feet coming off effective Sept. 3. With Canfor being one of the largest producers of softwood spruce dimension, this sent a message to the market, which listened and had a bit of a run up. As I mentioned in earlier notes, what is true demand? And what does that look like in the suppliers eyes. PANEL: Panel prices stayed flat but unlike last week when I was looking for more erosion of pricing, I think plywood producers will be following the market.
